Nakai is a 14 year old male orca who lives at SeaWorld San Diego where he was born on September 1, 2001. He was the 1st orca to be born as a result of artificial insemination. While his mother Kasatka lived in California, his father Tilikum lived in Florida.

Nakai is a very affectionate and playful orca. When he was younger he would often interact with the parks guests. Now that he is older he doesn't do this as often.

Nakai likes spending most of his time with Kasatka, Kalia, Makani and Amaya, though he is often seen with any member of the pod. He has grown dramatically over the past couple of years. Dispite his size, he is very gentle with the younger calves. He is one of the only mature males to still have a straight dorsal fin. He is closest with his family, but enjoys spending time with the other pod members as well. He has a close relationship with Orkid and Shouka.

Nakai did waterworks before they were stopped in 2010. He has never shown aggression to his trainers and did very good with waterworks. He was young when they were stopped so he wasn't as advanced in those behaviors as some of the other whales. He has learned many other advanced behaviors for dry work though.
